ArticleAlexander Powhida is an experienced commercial litigator representing clients in commercial tort, employment, construction, real estate, and commercial disputes. Alex regularly litigates complex disputes involving contracts, business dissolutions, property rights, mechanic’s liens, and landlord-tenant relationships, among others.
Applying the perspective of a trial lawyer, Alex also counsels business clients in a myriad of business matters. In this capacity, he advises business owners in a range of asset transactions, including the sale and purchase of businesses and professional practices. With concentrated experience in the construction industry, Alexander also drafts and negotiates sophisticated agreements for contractors, property owners and real estate developers.
Before joining the firm, Alex served as Special Litigation Counsel of the Albany Litigation Bureau of the New York State Office of the Attorney General. In this role, he routinely handled Article 78 Proceedings, federal civil rights actions, and employment discrimination actions. Before working in the public sector, Alex founded and managed his own firm.
