Condemnation

Eminent domain or “condemnation” is probably the most powerful right of government, enabling it to take away private property perceived to be necessary for the public good. Our attorneys have extensive experience in the litigation of such actions. We have represented landowners, as well as municipalities, in matters involving substantial monetary awards for the total or partial taking of property. Farrell Fritz counsel was a member of the commission creating the statutory procedure that must be followed to take private property, and has edited and coauthored the book on condemnation law and procedure in New York.
