John C. Stellakis is an experienced land use attorney handling zoning applications, municipal matters, litigation, and environmental cases, as well as commercial and residential real estate transactions.
John works closely with owners, applicants, engineers, and architects to prepare, coordinate, and present entitlement applications, and navigates complex environmental review frameworks. He counsels municipalities in drafting, enacting, implementing, and applying local laws, hearing and considering applications, and complying with other applicable laws and regulations.
John prosecutes and defends Article 78 proceedings and plenary actions concerning land use disputes and entitlements. His Federal and State motion, trial, and appellate work encompasses an array of matters, including municipal and zoning issues, environmental protection and liability, and constitutional, real property, and riparian rights. John also addresses NYSDEC and NYSDOH regulatory compliance, landlord-tenant matters, and municipal ordinance violations.
In addition to his law practice, John is an Adjunct Professor of Legal Process at Touro University, Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center. He also mentors high school students who participate in mock trial and moot court programs and competitions.
John earned his Juris Doctor from Villanova University School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, in Philosophy and Political Science from Villanova University. He is a graduate of Chaminade High School
