Farrell Fritz Expands NYC Office with Corporate & ECVC and Trusts & Estates Partners

June 13, 2023

Farrell Fritz is pleased to announce the additions of Josh Kalish and David Goldstein to its growing New York City office.

A graduate of Cornell Law School, Kalish joins as a partner in the Corporate practice, specifically focused on the Emerging Companies & Venture Capital (ECVC) space. His background includes a broad range of transactional and general counsel experience, including early- and growth-stage equity and debt financings, strategic partnerships, M&A, technology development and licensing, founder dispute resolution as well as corporate governance and outside general counsel advisory work.

For the last five years, Kalish has been a partner at the ECVC-focused boutique law firm Odell Girton Siegel, where he developed diverse client relationships across the technology and startup ecosystem. Kalish spent the first six years of his career as a corporate associate at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton, before serving as General Counsel to two technology startups in New York City.

His unique blend of experience having served as both a trusted outside advisor to dynamic entrepreneurs and investors as well as an in-house General Counsel provides deep and meaningful perspective that he draws upon to advise clients from formation, through the various stages of capital formation and growth, and ultimately, through a liquidity event.

“Joining a firm like Farrell Fritz provides my practice with a tremendous platform for comprehensive client support and continued growth,” Kalish said. “As our clients grow and their operational challenges mature, the resources of a full-service firm become essential to their success. Farrell Fritz’s experienced and entrepreneurial team is focused on helping clients navigate a wide spectrum of business and legal challenges and, in particular, being there to guide them through the most important moments of their evolution and growth.”

A graduate of New York University School of Law, earning both his J.D. and LL.M. in Tax, David Goldstein joins as a partner in the Trusts & Estates practice. David’s experience includes representing both domestic and international clients in a broad range of estate planning and tax matters. Most recently, David was an associate in the Private Client practice at Shearman & Sterling in New York City. He has spent his entire legal career in Big Law, starting his practice at Katten.

David’s background and expertise advising high-net-worth individuals and their families will bolster an incredibly deep team of T&E lawyers at Farrell Fritz. His experience working with international families and complex intergenerational wealth transfers continues to expand the reach of the practice in New York City and beyond.

“Working with families to preserve and protect their wealth has been my passion for the past thirteen years,” Goldstein said. “Joining a well-respected and growing firm like Farrell Fritz will allow me to continue to provide high level resources and sophisticated planning strategies to clients. Estate planning continues to be a driver of opportunities for the firm and I’m eager to bring my experience to continue the growth of this rapidly expanding practice, particularly within international estate planning.”

“Adding partners of this caliber in New York City continues to support our growth plans as a firm,” said Robert C. Creighton, the firm’s managing partner. “As we continue to build the firm as a resource for middle market companies, their founders, and wealthy families, Josh and David strengthen our capacity to provide high quality service to these clients. Bringing top entrepreneurial talent to the firm is a priority as we look to the future.”
