The Unexpected Tax Consequences of Ending a QTIP Trust Early
Sean Meaney is an estate litigation attorney who represents clients in trust and estate disputes. Working with the firm’s estate litigation team, Sean conducts legal research, assists with discovery, and prepares documents for contested proceedings. He also analyzes legal and factual issues to support developing effective strategies for resolving disputes.
Before joining the firm, Sean worked as an intern with a human resources consulting company, where he researched federal and state labor laws, assisted with client compliance audits, and reviewed employment and company documentation. Through this experience, Sean developed his ability to research complex legal issues, analyze factual information, and apply his findings to client matters.
Sean also gained research experience as a Next-Generation Arms Control Expert Intern in the Nuclear Non-Proliferation sector of Brookhaven National Laboratory, where he researched arms control treaties and U.S. policy concerning nuclear negotiations and non-proliferation. His work focused on researching complex issues and tracing the development of U.S.-Russian arms control agreements.
Sean was a summer associate and law clerk at the firm prior to graduating from law school.
