Who’s Who in Women in Professional Services – Kristina M. Wesch

August 25, 2017

Kristina M. Wesch is a partner in the law firm of Farrell Fritz, P.C., with New York offices in Uniondale, Hauppauge, New York City and Water Mill. Wesch concentrates her practice in the areas of general corporate matters; mergers and acquisitions, including those in and out of bankruptcy; and corporate reorganizations, with a specific focus on the healthcare industry.

She represents hospitals, physicians, retirement communities and other healthcare providers in connection with their business transactions and regulatory matters. Wesch has represented major hospitals and healthcare facilities on Long Island and in Westchester in strategic transactions. She is also a regular contributor to Farrell Fritz’s New York Health Law blog.

With the complex transactions and ever-changing regulations in the healthcare industry, Wesch’s has been focusing her practice in this area.

“As a transactional attorney, I have always been exposed to a wide variety of industries but over the last several years, my practice has become more and more concentrated in the healthcare arena,” she said. “Part of this has to do with an increased demand for healthcare law services arising from the obvious changes surrounding us – most notably, the emphasis of consolidation under the Affordable Care Act and the resulting changes to the way hospital systems, physician practices and other healthcare providers organize and operate. But much of it also has to do with the subtle changes occurring in the demographics of the New York region. There is a growing need for senior care services, as well as for community housing for young adults with challenges that may prevent them from achieving independent living. In this constantly evolving area of law, it is both challenging and fulfilling to make an impact related to the quality of, and access to, healthcare for citizens of Long Island and the surrounding region.”

Earlier in her career, Wesch clerked for Honorable Elizabeth S. Stong in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of New York. She earned a bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, from Queens College, CUNY and a juris doctor, with honors, from St. John’s University School of Law, where she was a St. Thomas More Scholar and a an article and notes editor on the St. John’s Law Review.

Wesch is a member of the New York and California State bars and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. She is an active member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and of International Women’s Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation, and is a member of the Turnaround Management Association, the American Bar Association’s Health Law Section and the New York State Bar Association’s Health Law Section.
