The Flushing Willets Point Corona Development Corporation is an organization comprised of private and public sector stakeholders that seeks to develop a comprehensive set of economic development goals for the Greater Flushing – Willets Point – Corona area of north-central Queens.
Its missions are to:
– advocate for new economic development initiatives in Flushing, including area-wide parking and traffic solutions, rezoning opportunities, the expansion of affordable housing and infrastructure improvements focusing on the Transit Authority and Long Island Railroad;
– conduct outreach and obtain support for economic initiatives in the redevelopment of Willets Point focusing on business retention and relocation, infrastructure development and a comprehensive rezoning; and to
– propose and advocate for improvements that will build greater linkages between Corona, Willets Point and the greater Flushing area.
John Racanelli, a board member of The Flushing Willets Point Corona Development Corporation, and Charlotte Biblow are using their real estate development and environmental law knowledge to help the organization implement a large-scale brownfields opportunity area assessment for the re-development of the Flushing waterfront.
