Farrell Fritz to Open NYC Office

January 23, 2004

UNIONDALE – Farrell Fritz, Long Island’s third-largest law firm, is taking a bite of the Big Apple.

The 71-attorney firm has plans to open a Midtown Manhattan office in February that will be staffed by a new, incoming partner, according to Charles Strain, the firm’s managing partner.

Strain declined to disclose the partner’s name or details of the location, saying only that the partner specializes in commercial law and that 25 percent of the Farrell Fritz’s litigation matters are based in Manhattan.

“It’s a natural progression for us to move into Manhattan. It just makes sense,” said Strain, adding that the firm had considered Queens, but decided that Manhattan would present better opportunities to expand its geographic reach and client base.

The New York City location will provide clients with all of the firm’s general-practice services, including real estate and corporate and banking services.

Farrell Fritz is headquartered at EAB Plaza in Uniondale, but is considering a move to 200 or 300 Jericho Quadrangle in Jericho or some other site in Nassau County. The firm also has fully staffed offices in Melville and Bridgehampton.

Strain said that he expects to have about five lawyers working at Farrell Fritz’s Manhattan office within the next few years.
