COVID-19 IMPACT: Long Island Real Property Tax Alert

Suffolk County Adjusted Grievance Filing Deadlines are now set.

 

Each Town in Suffolk County has moved its grievance filing deadlines and some have altered their filing procedures as well.

 

The 2020 deadline by date (earliest to latest) are:

June 16, 2020             East Hampton

 

June 23, 2020           Babylon, Brookhaven, Huntington, Shelter Island, Smithtown, Southold

 

June 30, 2020         Islip, Riverhead

 

July 1, 2020            Southampton

 

Before filing a grievance, it is best to check the Town’s website for any changed forms or filing methods.

 

Suffolk Tax Due Date

Suffolk County Second Half Taxes are due by May 31 without penalty.  Recently, the Federal Reserve opened up a credit line for municipal borrowing which should/may allow the payment due date to be delayed.  Stay tuned.
