Kathleen M. Brown is a regulatory healthcare attorney who primarily focuses on provider compliance and related regulatory matters. She advises clients on a vast array of state and federal regulatory healthcare matters, including Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance compliance, audits and investigations, provider internal audits and self-disclosure of overpayment obligations, and Stark and Anti-Kickback compliance.
Kat is experienced in all levels of administrative litigation, including Article 78 appeals, as well as nonprofit corporation entity formation and corporate compliance, general healthcare transactions, and developing and implementing comprehensive compliance programs, including education and training courses. Her knowledge and skill set are integral to the firm’s New York State Regulatory and Government Relations practice, headquartered in Albany.
Her presentations include Collaboration in Creating a Culture of Compliance, presented during the 2018 IHS Annual Conference, and the New York State Center for Assisted Living (NYSCAL) ALP Regulatory Update Series.
Kat was previously a health department associate at O’Connell & Aronowitz, P.C., where she was also a law clerk. While in law school, she was a law clerk in the Office of Counsel to the New York State Office of the Medicaid Inspector General (OMIG) and in the Office of Counsel to Governor Andrew M. Cuomo. Prior to attending law school, she was a project coordinator for the New York State Department of Health, Bureau of Early Intervention.
