The Donna Dennis Foundation

January 01, 2010

Over the years, Farrell Fritz has reached out through its pro bono program to numerous Long Islanders, most of whom were unknown to the firm prior to our offer of help. One particular project, however, originated very close to home.

In January 2001, Donna Dennis, the sister of a former Farrell Fritz employee, lost her fight with breast cancer, leaving three children without a mother. Her family turned their grief into motivation. To support others facing a diagnosis of breast cancer, and to promote research and awareness, Mrs. Dennis’ family sought to found an organization in her name. Farrell Fritz attorneys, including Thomas Killeen and Louis Vlahos, worked with them to set up the organization, earn its tax-exempt status, and establish its corporate governance. They also engaged an intellectual property law firm to volunteer to help the Foundation trademark its distinctive angel symbol.
