Peter A. Mahler represents clients in the resolution of complex business disputes as a partner in our commercial litigation department. He has extensive trial and appellate experience in the state and federal courts and before arbitration tribunals involving diverse commercial, real estate, intellectual property, municipal law, employment and contract litigation.
Mr. Mahler is a recognized authority on dissolution and valuation proceedings involving closely held business entities. He has authored numerous articles for legal publications, and has lectured and testified as an expert witness on "business divorce" of corporate shareholders, partners and limited liability company members.
Mr. Mahler graduated summa cum laude from U.C. Santa Barbara and earned his law degree at The New York University School of Law, where he was an editor of the Law Review. He served as Law Clerk to United States District Judge John R. Bartels in the Eastern District of New York. Following his clerkship Mr. Mahler was associated with Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler and later joined Solin & Breindel, P.C., where he became a partner. Before joining Farrell Fritz in 2004 Mr. Mahler was a partner at Derfner & Mahler LLP, which he co-founded in 1992.
Mr. Mahler is a member of the New York bar and also is admitted in the federal courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York, the Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. He belongs to the New York State and Westchester County Bar Associations. Mr. Mahler has an AV Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Rating.
