A Helping Hand for a Very Special School

January 01, 2010

Robert Creighton and Lisa Vaccaro helped make a difference for a nonprofit, private Long Island school that was founded to serve children with autism. Most of the school’s students, who range in age from 3 to 21, have severe behavioral issues that have prevented them from being served by available public special education programs.

To support its mission, Robert and Lisa, provide pro bono legal services to a nonprofit organization established specifically to raise the significant funding needed to cover the school’s expenses. The result has been a resounding success.

Through a high degree of individualized attention and innovative programs, the school has significantly improved the functioning and quality of life for numerous children; and today is considered a model curriculum for similar programs nationwide.
